    Authors: Blandine DESTREMAU;

    Mi intencin en esta presentacin es cuestionar la visin de que las personas mayores son principalmente necesitadas de cuidados y que es necesario pensar para ellas la construccin de su lugar en la sociedad, su inclusin y la respuesta a sus necesidades. Argumento aqu que las organizaciones de personas mayores son susceptibles de ser palancas para reivindicar, explicar, promover y poner en marcha propuestas inclusivas, solidarias y responsables, dirigidas a mantener su posicin de ciudadanos y responder a algunos de los efectos de su envejecimiento. Palancas para escapar de la posicin de objetos de atencin y afirmarse como sujetos de sus elecciones y cursos de vida.Para ello, me basar en el trabajo de campo que he realizado en Cuba durante los ltimos diez aos y que me ha llevado a participar durante un largo periodo de tiempo en varios tipos de organizaciones comunitarias, en particular los crculos de abuelos y las universidades de la tercera edad. Aunque insertadas en la malla de las instituciones gubernamentales, estas organizaciones construyen conscientemente la interdependencia a travs del cuidado de los dems y la valorizacin a travs del cuidado de uno mismo como persona y como grupo. Promueven alternativas psicolgicas y polticas a la marginacin de las personas mayores y su confinamiento en la esfera domstica y sus exigencias en trminos de cuidado y dependencia de los familiares. Sin pretender hacer una comparacin, establecer un paralelismo con una organizacin francesa de personas mayores en la que participo. My intention in this presentation is to challenge the view that older people are primarily in need of care and that it is necessary to think for them the construction of their place in society, their inclusion and the response to their needs. I argue here that elderly people's organizations are likely to be levers for claiming, explaining, promoting and implementing inclusive, solidary and responsible proposals aimed at maintaining their position as citizens and responding to some of the effects of their ageing. Levers to escape the position of objects of attention and to assert themselves as subjects of their choices and life courses.In order to do so, I will draw on fieldwork I have been conducting in Cuba for the past ten years, which has led me to participate over a long period of time in several types of community organizations, in particular the crculos de abuelos and the elder peoples universities. Although inserted in the mesh of governmental institutions, these organizations consciously build interdependence through the care of others and valorization through the care of oneself as persons and as a group. They promote psychological and political alternatives to the marginalization of older people and their confinement to the domestic sphere and its demands in terms of care of and dependency on relatives. Without pretending to make a comparison, I will draw parallels with a French organization of older people in which I am involved. Trayectorias Humanas Trascontinentales, N 12 | 2021
